Jerry R. Smith is retired with nearly 30 years of Law Enforcement and military experience. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force as a Sergeant with leadership and management training.  Was stationed in Columbus, Ohio and Nue Ulm, Germany and finally in Las Vegas, Nevada.  While serving he continued to pursue his education and graduated from Clark County Community College (1979-1983).  He moonlighted as a professional DJ, concert promoter/planner and trained as a professional model.

 

Jerry retired from Metro Police as a Correction Officer with over 20 years of service (1985-2006).  During his stent at Metro he was a teacher for the academy and trained the new recruits post academy. Some of his off-time activities included Standup Comedy, public speaking, MC for events, volunteered with United Way Of Southern Nevada, co-founded a youth organization (KFABS), produce music and videos, wrote books, designed workshops, was on the Board with The 100 Black Men of Las Vegas where he took his mentoring to another level with training and serving as Chair for the mentoring committee.  Though he is committed to life-long learning, Jerry finally finished his undergrad studies at UNLV with a BA in Business (1985-1990).

 

He now divides his time between working as a Real Estate Broker/Salesman and investor with Tico Real Estate and Property Management, a businessman (President and owner of Nomos Enterprises), an author, a film and music producer, Life-Style Design Coach, political and business consultant.

 

As a volunteer, he sits on the board for The Historic Westside School Corp, Nevada Wellness Center, The World Affairs Council Las Vegas. He served as Board member with the local NAACP and The United Negro College Fund, Kids For A Better Society; currently mentors with Hope For Prisoners, the Clark County School District and My Brother’s Keeper; past member and president for Toastmasters.

 

Rounds out his experience as a talk show host and producer for “The Professional Next Door” on UNLV’s college radio, Motivational Speaker and Recording Artist.
